Introduction to Reloading
Sunday, April 27
9:00 AM - 3:00 PM
The Thin Air Precision Introduction to Reloading and Load Development course covers the basics and safety regarding ammunition reloading. This course has a maximum capacity of 4 students. Students will learn how to safely reload ammunition for their rifle and how to start developing loads to increase accuracy and precision with low deviations in velocity.
Course Details
Students will learn how to prepare new or once fired brass, reprime, charge, and seat a bullet. Students will become familiar with how to operate all the necessary tools and equipment for reloading.
Equipment
Students will need to bring equipment and components that are specific to the cartridge their rifle is chambered in. For example, if you’re shooting a .308 Winchester, and your cases have large rifle primer pockets, you will need 100 pieces of .308 Winchester brass, 100 .308 caliber bullets that will work with your twist rate, 1 pound of gun powder that will work with your cartridge, 100 large rifle primers, and a .308 Winchester reloading die set. We have several standard die sets that students may use, please contact a member of the Thin Air Precision team to ensure you are bringing the right equipment and components for the course.
Equipment List
Scoped rifle
Bipod
Eye and ear protection
100 pieces of new or once fired brass
1lb of appropriate gun powder
100 primers

Long Range Marksmanship Level 1
Saturday, May 10, 2025
9:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Long Range Level 1 is an introduction to long-range shooting. This course is open to all experience levels and backgrounds, but students are expected to show up with an understanding of firearms safety and the ability to shoot a scoped rifle. Students will learn about equipment specific to precision shooting, marksmanship fundamentals, ballistics, and environmental factors that affect bullet trajectory.
Course Details:
With the assistance of instructors, students will ensure their rifle is correctly adjusted and that their scope is level. All students must zero or confirm zero with a minimum of 10 rounds and a chronograph. This is not only a safety measure, but important for getting the average muzzle velocity for ballistics computation. Paired in spotter/shooter teams, students will learn how to read wind, spot bullet trace, observe impacts, and efficiently communicate corrections to put rounds on targets out to 1100 meters.
Equipment:
Mandatory equipment:
Precision Rifle with bipod
Riflescope with exposed turrets
Eye and Hearing protection
Optional equipment:
Rear squeeze bag
Scope level (30mm and 34mm levels available for purchase)

Long Range Marksmanship Level 2
Sunday, May 11, 2025
9:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Prerequisites: Long Range Level 1 or equivalent experience
Long Range Level 2 builds off the information taught in Level 1. While prior Level 1 is not a requirement, students attending Level 2 are expected to have a basic understanding of long-range precision shooting.
Long Range Level 2 dives into advanced material on external ballistics and environmental factors. Students will learn how to use the Mil Relation Formula for range estimation, how to use the Kestrel 5700 Elite Ballistics, and the Garmin Xero chronograph. Students will become familiarized with shooting from alternate positions such as off of a tripod and rapidly engage targets out to 1100 meters. Long Range Level 2 will also help prepare students for the Thin Air Precision Long Range Competitions.
Equipment
Mandatory equipment:
Precision rifle with bipod
Riflescope with exposed turrets
80 rounds of ammunition
Eye and hearing protection
Optional equipment:
Scope bubble level (30 and 34mm levels available for purchase)
Rear squeeze bag
Handguard or stock-mounted Arca rail (mlok/picatinny available for purchase)

Student Appreciation Day
Student Appreciation Day is just one of the ways the TAP team shows their appreciation for our students. This is an opportunity for prior students to come out and shoot in a non class environment. Students are allowed to bring one guest. Guests must sign a release form whether they are shooting or not. Students must sign a new release form every 12 months.
During TAP’s Student Appreciation Day, the TAP instructors will be at the range to assist with spotting, setting up new rifles, zeroing, and range safety. Cheeseburgers will also be tossed on the grill around noon. Students may not use automatic firearms, pistols, or calibers larger than .30 at the range unless it has been cleared by TAP staff.
